The Story behind Pebble Toys

In 2004 a lady named Samantha Morshed moved to Bangladesh with her family.  It wasn’t long after her arrival that she felt morally she had  to use whatever skills she had to help in some way. She wanted to build sustainable and flexible employment for women in the rural areas of  Bangladesh so they wouldn’t  have to leave their families to travel long distances to find work. With a love of knitting and crochet she began to visit small communities regularly and teach the women there how to make children’s toys , the name given to this non profit making initiative was Hathay Bunano.  Samantha proved that it was possible to make good quality products at volume in rural areas. Their are now many women who participate in this venture in over 50 rural production centres across Bangladesh. In 2010 Hathay Bunano introduced their own brand – Pebble – the products they produce are unrivaled they are absolutely adorable and beautifully made.
